Prior to 1996-97, Indian Railway consisted of nine Zones. On 16.06.96, Ministry of Railways decided to setup six new Zones to be carved out of the existing network of Indian Railway by reorganization of the existing zones. East Central Railway with its Headquarters at Hajipur in Bihar is one of these six new zones.


East Central Railway was inaugurated on 08.09.96 and an Officer on Special Duty of the rank of General Manager was posted.

East Central Railway Patna announced for various posts listed below :

1. Porter : 918 Post
2. Trackman : 1614 Post
3. Helper-II (Mech) : 976 Post
4. Helper-II (S&T) : 366 Post
5. Helper-II (Elect) : 291 Post
6. Grade-D (Engg.) : 469 Post
7. Grade-D (Store) : 21 Post

Educational Qualification:

• Matriculation
• ITI/Center of Excellence(COE) or Equivalent.

Age Limit:

• Minimum age -18 year
• Upper age-33 year (on 1.1.2014)

Citizens: Indian

Payband :  Rs. 5200-20200

Grade Pay : Rs. 1800

1. Application may be submitted either in Hindi or English
2. Application  fee only be taken in the form of Crossed Indian  Postal Order only worth 100 Rs,in  favor of Assistant Personnel Officer (RRC), Railway Recruitment Cell, E.C.Railway, payable at Patna.
3. Application should reach on or before 14 Oct 2013.

Selection Process:

The candidates will be appointed after evaluating their performance in the recruitment process that is divided in the listed section. After successfully qualifying in one round, the candidates will be called for the consecutive section for selecting the eligible candidates for the post. The selection process will be followed as per the list given.
